AND THEY EVEN ATE GREEN VEGES WITHOUT FORCE!!

The new years gardening begins!!

This afternoon after a cooling swim at the pool Rm22 began the long task of exorcising the weeds from our back garden ( with the help of several borrowed keen Rm23 kids) . We definitely learned to heed the saying "one year to seed and seven years to weed!!" We decided that the parsley was particularly resilient and easily spread - thus it went at the top of our hit list. the kids were all so committed and we soon had 2 huge piles of weeds ready for the skip.
To our delight we found a mass of purple beans, strawberries, dill ( which we de-headed and put into the drying house for seed collection) and spinach - all of which were feverishly enjoyed by the children.
Once the plots are re-cleared we will begin our new years planting. We are really excited to be working alongside our buddies in Rm10 in making another raised garden to add to the collection!
The joy of discovery was evident during this learning session as shouts of delight went up whenever a new vegetable or a developing sunflower was found in amoungst the weeds. Thanks kids, great effort!
