Enviiro-Maths... thenext project

Today the children in room 14 began the journey towards creating their new garden.  The children worked in groups of 4 to measure and draw out how the garden will look according to the plans.  They had to accurately read scales, measure and mark out pathways and work out the total amount of square meters required to carry out the project successfully.

After we carried out this measurement task it was time to look at the actual area and mark out the various garden perimeters.  The children had to take into account where the sun rises and sets, where the best place for the compost bins would be and how we can protect the drain-ways and overflow area.

Just look at these unsightly ares- BUT not for long.... it will soon be transformed into an abundant and beautiful space for horticultural learning and teaching!!
