Creating our own fossil fuels- In fast forward!

We all know that fossil fuels take millions of years to make.  But today we looked at how to create our own 'fast forward' fossil fuels in the form of compost.  The system of making your own compost is very similar to the way the Earth made our Fossil fuels.  We have to add layers of various organic matter which, when under pressure,  begin to breakdown over a period time.  This process of heat, pressure and micro-organisms is very similar to how the Earth creates coal, oil and gas... We will use the information we have found out to create our new composting system for the main school.  This compost will be a key component in making our new garden as productive as possible.   We will be beginning to build our garden framing later in the term.....
